"Up to my eternal home..."
Come and Welcome - Hymn by Indelible Grace
We looked at John 14:1-6 yesterday in our sermon and the famous and comforting words of Jesus - vs. 2-3 - "In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also."
The good news of the gospel is that Jesus brings us home to God! The promise of the covenant that God will dwell with man is realized through Jesus and Jesus alone (vs. 6). Jesus has secured our "eternal home" as this hymn says. (Give it a listen!) And so the invitation is proclaimed to us: "Come and welcome, sinner, come". Let us trust in Jesus alone who is the way to God, the way back home.
"Soon the days of life shall end / Lo, I come, your Savior, Friend
Safe your spirit to convey / To the realms of endless day
Up to my eternal home.
Come and welcome, sinner, come. / Come and welcome, sinner, come."
