Throughout the Scriptures we hear the clarion call to humility for humanity before their Creator. Among the covenant people of God, our understanding and desire for such is expanded and enhanced as we see both the humility and exaltation of Jesus Christ as our Redeemer. God's summons to humble ourselves is an invitation from Him to put one's self in the path of life and grace. We read this in several different places in the Bible but here is I Peter 5:5 - "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." And what is Peter's conclusion from that, vs. 6 - "Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time He may exalt you..." Get low as Jack Miller said. Friend, let us get low and go low before God and one another, that we may receive and revel in God's grace.
